Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Caballo Ventures LLC d/b/a Not a Wedding Crasher (“NAWC,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, retains, and protects information when you access or use our website, applications, marketplace, communications, identity verification flows, payment flows, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).
This Privacy Policy applies to Hosts, Guests, prospective users, website visitors, and others who interact with us through our website, mobile applications, marketplace, identity verification flows, payment flows, SMS messages, email communications, support interactions, event-related communications, and any other online or offline interactions where this Privacy Policy is posted or referenced. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that we process information as described in this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Code of Conduct. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in the Terms of Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and Contact Information
We may collect your name, email address, phone number, username, password or authentication credentials, date of birth, age confirmation, location, account settings, role selection, and communication preferences.
2.2 Profile and Marketplace Information
We may collect profile photos, biographies, city/state/country, social profile links, dietary preferences, allergies, attire information, reasons for interest, guest introductions, host descriptions, wedding listing details, event preferences, and other information you choose to provide.
2.3 Identity Verification and Trust Information
We may collect or receive information related to identity verification, fraud prevention, eligibility, risk review, and account integrity. This may include verification status, verification timestamps, identity match results, selfie match results, document review status, device signals, fraud signals, and information provided to or received from verification vendors such as Stripe.
We may use automated or semi-automated tools to help detect fraud, account misuse, payment risk, identity mismatch, sanctions concerns, platform abuse, or safety concerns. These tools may generate risk signals or flags that are reviewed by NAWC or our service providers. We may deny verification, restrict access, pause transactions, or take other action based on these reviews, subject to applicable law.
2.4 Payment and Transaction Information
We and our payment processors may collect payment method information, billing information, payout information, transaction amounts, Monetary Contributions, Platform Fees, guest service fees, refunds, chargebacks, payout status, tax-related information, and payment processor identifiers. NAWC does not store full credit card numbers or bank account credentials when processed by third-party payment providers.
2.5 Communications and Support Information
We may collect messages, emails, SMS communications, in-app communications, support requests, feedback, reviews, reports, complaints, call notes, and other communications with us or between users through the Platform.
2.6 Device, Usage, Cookies, and Analytics Information
We may collect IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, links clicked, session activity, approximate location derived from IP address, log files, cookies, pixels, SDKs, and analytics events.
2.7 Information from Third Parties
We may receive information from payment processors, identity verification providers, fraud prevention vendors, analytics providers, marketing partners, social networks, public sources, business partners, users who invite or report you, and other third parties where permitted by law.
2.8 Sensitive Personal Information
We may collect or process information that may be considered sensitive personal information or sensitive data under applicable law, including identity verification information, date of birth or age-verification information, account security information, payment-related information, communications concerning safety incidents, and information submitted in connection with event participation. We use this information to verify identity, prevent fraud, protect users and events, process transactions, enforce policies, comply with law, and operate the Platform. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by applicable law without required consent.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to operate, maintain, personalize, secure, and improve the Platform; create and manage accounts; publish, review, and administer Listings; facilitate Seat Requests; support Host approvals; process payments and payouts; calculate, collect, and disclose Platform Fees; provide customer support; send transactional communications; conduct identity verification and fraud prevention; enforce our Terms and Code of Conduct; investigate safety incidents; prevent misuse; comply with law; perform analytics; market the Platform; and protect the rights, safety, privacy, and security of NAWC, users, weddings, venues, and the public.
We may also use information to test new features, troubleshoot errors, monitor Platform performance, understand user demand, improve conversion and safety flows, and develop products or services related to the Platform.
4. Identity Verification and Stripe Identity
NAWC may use Stripe, Stripe Identity, or other third-party verification providers to verify users, authenticate identity documents, compare selfies to identity documents, evaluate fraud signals, and help maintain trust and safety. Depending on the flow, you may be asked to provide government ID information, selfie images, date of birth, address, or related information directly to the verification provider.
NAWC does not intend to store government ID images on its own systems when verification is handled by Stripe or a similar provider. We may receive and retain verification status, confirmation, metadata, fraud signals, timestamps, and related results needed to operate the Platform, comply with law, resolve disputes, and prevent misuse.
Verification providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Your completion of identity verification does not guarantee approval for a Listing, acceptance by a Host, or continued access to the Platform.
Verification is used to support trust, safety, fraud prevention, payment integrity, and account eligibility. Verification does not guarantee that a user is safe, suitable, truthful, law-abiding, or appropriate for any event.
5. How Information Is Shared Between Hosts and Guests
Because NAWC is a marketplace, some information must be shared between users to facilitate listings, requests, approvals, confirmations, safety, and event participation.
Hosts may see information about Guests such as name, profile photo, city or general location, bio, guest introduction, social links if provided, verification status or badges, dietary information where relevant, request details, and other information the Guest provides for Host review. If Guests provide allergy, dietary, accessibility, or accommodation-related information, we use that information to help facilitate event participation and host review. Users should not provide medical information unless specifically requested by NAWC or reasonably necessary for event administration.
Guests may see information about Hosts and Listings such as host names or display names, wedding descriptions, photos, general location, date, schedule, attire, food and beverage information, contribution amount, event rules, and other details necessary to evaluate or attend the Listing. Exact venue address and sensitive instructions may be shared only after confirmation or closer to the event for privacy and safety.
Users may not misuse information obtained through the Platform, including by harassing others, contacting users outside permitted channels, publishing private wedding details, scraping data, or using information for unrelated marketing or solicitation.
6. How We Share Information with Service Providers and Third Parties
We may share information with vendors and service providers that help us operate the Platform, including payment processors, identity verification providers, fraud prevention vendors, cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, email and SMS providers, customer support tools, security tools, legal and accounting advisors, and other operational partners.
We may share information with Hosts, Guests, venues, vendors, emergency contacts, law enforcement, regulators, or other third parties where reasonably necessary to address safety, fraud, legal compliance, disputes, event administration, policy enforcement, or protection of rights.
We may disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, due diligence process, or other business transaction involving NAWC or Caballo Ventures LLC.
We may share aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information that does not reasonably identify you for analytics, marketing, research, business, or public relations purposes.
7. Payments, Payouts, Fees, and Financial Information
Payments and payouts are processed by third-party payment processors such as Stripe. We may receive transaction information, payment status, payout status, chargeback information, refund information, fee amounts, processor identifiers, risk signals, and limited payment-related metadata.
We use payment and transaction information to process Seat Requests, collect Monetary Contributions, calculate and retain Platform Fees and guest service fees, issue payouts, process refunds, respond to chargebacks, reconcile accounting records, comply with tax and legal obligations, detect fraud, and enforce our Terms.
If you are a Host receiving payouts, our payment processors may collect information needed for onboarding, tax reporting, sanctions screening, fraud prevention, payout processing, and compliance with payment-network and banking rules. This may include legal name, address, date of birth, taxpayer information, bank account information, business information, identity documents, and related verification information.
NAWC does not provide tax advice. Hosts are responsible for determining and satisfying their own tax obligations arising from amounts received through the Platform.
Your use of payment services may be subject to the payment processor’s separate terms and privacy policy.
8. Cookies, Pixels, Analytics, and Advertising Technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, tags, SDKs, log files, and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, maintain sessions, improve functionality, measure performance, analyze traffic, understand user behavior, prevent fraud, and support marketing.
These technologies may collect device identifiers, IP address, browser information, pages viewed, referring sites, conversion events, and interactions with emails or advertisements. You may be able to control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may affect Platform functionality.
If we use advertising or retargeting pixels, we may use them to measure campaign effectiveness, reach interested users, and understand marketplace demand. NAWC will not sell personal information or use third-party advertising technologies for targeted advertising unless it has implemented legally required notices, opt-out mechanisms, and preference-signal processing.
9. Communications, Email, and SMS
We may send transactional communications related to account creation, email verification, phone verification, identity verification, listings, Seat Requests, approvals, declines, confirmations, payments, payouts, refunds, policy changes, support, safety, and event activity.
If you provide a phone number and consent to receive text messages, we may send SMS messages related to account and event activity. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of SMS where applicable by replying STOP or following provided instructions, although opting out may limit your ability to receive time-sensitive account or event updates.
We may send marketing emails or promotional communications where permitted by law. You may opt out of marketing emails by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us, but you may still receive transactional or service-related messages.
10. Legal Bases and Business Purposes
Where applicable law requires us to identify a legal basis for processing, we rely on one or more legal bases, including performance of our agreements, consent, compliance with legal obligations, protection of safety, prevention of fraud, and legitimate business interests.
11. Data Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform, maintain accounts, support Listings and bookings, process payments and payouts, comply with legal, tax, accounting, and reporting obligations, prevent fraud, enforce policies, resolve disputes, and protect safety.
Identity verification records, transaction records, support communications, safety reports, fraud signals, and legal records may be retained after account deletion where necessary for compliance, fraud prevention, chargeback defense, litigation, safety, or legitimate business purposes. Retention periods may vary based on the type of information and applicable law.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. These may include access controls, vendor review, encryption in transit where appropriate, secure hosting, monitoring, and internal policies.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of account credentials and promptly notifying us of suspected unauthorized access. If we determine that a security incident requires notice under applicable law, we will provide notice as required.
13. U.S. State Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence and applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These rights may include the right to:
- confirm whether we process your personal information;
- access personal information we maintain about you;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of certain personal information;
- obtain a copy of certain personal information in a portable format;
- opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal information, or certain profiling activities;
- limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information, where applicable; and
- appeal a denial of a privacy request, where applicable.
We may extend some privacy rights to users regardless of state residency, but doing so does not mean that any particular state privacy law applies to us, to you, or to a specific request.
You may submit a privacy request by contacting us at support@notaweddingcrasher.comor through any privacy request form or “Your Privacy Choices” page we make available.
We may need to verify your identity before processing a request. We may deny or limit a request where permitted by law, including where retaining information is reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, payment processing, chargeback defense, tax or accounting compliance, legal compliance, safety investigations, dispute resolution, enforcement of our Terms, protection of other users, or protection of our legal rights.
If we deny your privacy request, you may appeal by contacting us and stating that you are submitting a privacy appeal. We will review and respond to appeals as required by applicable law.
14. Your Privacy Choices
If we use advertising, retargeting, analytics, or similar technologies that are considered targeted advertising, sale, sharing, or profiling under applicable law, we will provide legally required notices and choices, which may include a “Your Privacy Choices,” “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information,” or “Opt Out of Targeted Advertising” link.
Where required by applicable law, we will process recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals, such as Global Privacy Control, for the browser or device from which the signal is received.
At this time, NAWC does not intend to sell personal information for money. NAWC also does not knowingly sell or share personal information of users under 21.
